Safe Dating for Women

Every woman who has ever been on the dating scene knows that while there may be plenty of fish in the sea, there are plenty you’d rather throw back. Chances are, when you’re actively dating to try to find Mr. Right, you’ll go on plenty of perfectly nice dates with guys who just aren’t quite right.

Unfortunately, most women will go on one or two horrifyingly memorable dates with guys who are just somewhat scary — the ones who just won’t take no for an answer. Since the advent of online dating, things can potentially be more dangerous. Thankfully, there is now help to put an end to dangerous dates.

In the UK, women on dates are encouraged to “Ask for Angela” at the bar if things aren’t going well and they feel at risk. Now, a similar trend is emerging for women who need an escape from a bad date or even help from the police. Recently, signs have started popping up in ladies’ toilets at bars and restaurants, instructing women to order an ‘angel shot’ if they think they might be in danger.

The posters read: “Are you on a date that isn’t going well? Is your Tinder or Plenty of Fish date not who they said they were on their profile? Do you feel unsafe, or even just a bit weird? We’re here to help. Just go to the bar and order an angel shot.” The poster continues to say how you order your drink will impact how they handle the situation for you.

“Neat: Your bartender will escort you to your vehicle.

With Ice: Your bartender will call a taxi for you.

With Lime: Your bartender will call the police.”

They add, “We’ll handle things discreetly, and without a lot of fuss (we’ve been there, and we want you to know that you’re in good hands.”

Hopefully you’ll never find yourself in a tricky situation on a date, but it’s reassuring to know that help is close by if needed.
